Assumption College senior girls basketball coach Steve Petrella was excited to get the Athletic Association of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk season underway on Tuesday for good reason.

Not only did the Lions win their first game, travelling to Paris District High School where they defeated the Panthers 66-22, but his team are also the defending champions.

It doesn’t hurt that he really enjoys the group of players.
