The St. John’s College Green Eagles shook off a poor opening first quarter to capture the AABHN Junior Girls Basketball championship on Friday.

The talented Green Eagles defeated the ‘Never Say Die’ Assumption College Lions 53-43 in a competitive and entertaining game at Assumption.

The Lions set the tone early, playing strong defence in the first quarter to force a lot of turnovers and limit the Green Eagles’ scoring chances. Kate Ferras was outstanding for the Lions at both ends of the floor helping the team to a 16-10 lead after the first quarter.
